Trying to get motivated

I'm sitting here on the couch watching the news and trying to motivate myself to get up and get out for a run this evening. The weather is about perfect but for some reason I'm just not feeling it!

What motivates all you runners to get out there and run?

I would say... my ipod. Put some music on there that you are dying to listen to!!! Then rock out and clear your mind!

I've just started running again (after a long stint of recovering from runner's knee and then dreading getting back into shape). A few things that motivate and help me through:

- I sign up for races, whether 3K, 6K or 1/2 marathons to stay motivated to train.
- I like to run with friends, which makes it social to, but when not running with friends, I know I need to keep training so that when I do run with a friend I'm not the slow one!
- I tell myself if I get tired I can just run really slow, so never breaking from the run, but instead of walking, I just slow down, which helps me to get into shape faster.
- If I really don't want to go, I just tell my self 1 mile. Just do one mile - that won't take long and at least I did something...I usually, once I get out there will do 2-3, but hey, it got me out there!

tv! we canceled cable at our house so i actually look forward to watching trash ;) plus i ran at the beginning of my workout so i tell myself just to getit out of the way

Some days the motivation just doesn't come... Recently I just force myself to get dressed (for running) and then I feel like a big loser if I just sit on the couch so I head out the door to at least walk. Then, when I'm walking I start thinking, "this is crazy, I could be finished with my run in 45 minutes." Thus the run begins and I am always so happy I got out there when it's over.

I dont run ... but I do exercise and since hubby has come home I havent exsercised once but its time to get back to it since I feel tired all the time again and when I exercise I just feel better all day long.

Eating the things I love is what motivates me. When I run or do interval sprints I can eat all the desserts I want!! Ok not really but I can definitely splurge!

I have to either do it first thing in the morning, at lunch, or straight from work. As soon as I go home and let myself get comfy, it's all over from there!
